Our Story

Using only the simplest and purest ingredients, Just Great Tea is on a mission to provide the most inclusive bubble tea experience with quality ingredients in mind. 

Despite a large percentage of the adult population developing lactose intolerance naturally over time, the bubble tea industry still includes milk derivatives in their creamers that can still cause uncomfortable bloat. This also prevents vegans from enjoying traditional ‘milk’ teas.

It all started during COVID-19, where our Founder was unhappy with the taste, quality, and sugar of bubble tea kits available at grocery stores, and felt unsafe with ordering out. As a fellow Asian female as well, lactose has always been an issue, and most ‘lactose-free’ creamers still caused stomach discomfort.

After many taste tests and experimenting, we discovered how oats could be used as a creamy base, and ‘Just Great Tea’ was born. 

 

We made sure that the star of our bubble tea is the tea itself, so you’ll be delighted to know that our bubble tea has a very strong tea flavour, and minimal sugar. 

We chose hojicha roasted green tea from Japan to serve as our original bubble tea base, and you can find out all about it here.

Knowing that international food standards may not support dairy free, we decided that manufacturing our bubble tea powder ourselves was the best way to ensure quality. We’re proud to say that our ‘original bubble tea’ base is manufactured  locally in Canada, following the highest food standards. We also use zero artificial flavours, colors, or additives in our bubble tea powder, and source our tea directly from Japan. To ensure an authentic experience, we sourced our brown sugar from Taiwan (the origin of bubble tea) too.
